Rehabilitated buildings of Informational-Consultative Service Centers opened in Mountainous Ajara
Rehabilitated offices of Khulo and Shuakhevi Informational-Consultative Service Centers opened on 29 May. Opening ceremony was attended by the Chairman of Ajara A.R Archil Khabadze, The Ministry of Agriculture of Georgia Shalva Pipia along with the Ministry of Agriculture of Ajara Zaur Phutkaradze, the Delegation of the European Union to Georgia and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). UNDP also signed a long-term agreement with the Agro Service Centre to continue the ongoing cooperation and assistance within the frame of European Neighbourhood Programme for Agriculture and Rural Development (ENPARD). The programme with 3, 3 million budgets promotes agriculture development and small farm assistance in the Ajara Autonomous Republic as a foundation for food security, sustainable production and rural employment. The visitors observed the blueberry demonstration plots for piloting new agriculture technologies as well.
Agro Service Center opened Informational-Consultative Service Centers in each municipality of Ajara last year. Since then 7 365 farmers were provided with consultation-recommendations regarding to the vegetable and fruit care, plant protection, agro business development and introduction of modern agro technologies. Khulo, Shuakhevi and Keda offices have been rehabilitated within the frame of ENPARD Ajara program.
